Snowed in AGAIN! Oh, to be a kid again and outta school for yet another snow day. Today's youth has no idea how much we looked forward to this opportunity when I was a kid. However, growing up in Texas made this practically impossible! Maybe I have entertained my children for far too long and now they have become incapable of self soothing. UGH! What does any mom do in a situation like this you ask??? Send them away~ of course! My very best guy friend has been helping Topher prepare his car for the Annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby and thankfully he was able to get in some work time with him last night. Onna is also making a car this year so they both got to get outta the house and work on their cars. An added bonus to the kids being out of the house for the evening....Liv got to come over so that we could decorate her Valentine box for school. She is a high maintenance princess so it didn't go quite as I had planned.....SO in the midst of crafting it up I called for a baking timeout! Viola! Valentine cupcakes DONE! They were sooo yummy, it made the decision making a lot easier (or less important depending on how you look at it!). I love love love baking!!! And recently I've been motivated to get back into the swing of it by one of my cupcake lovin' friends who started a Cupcake/Goodies blog. YUM! This week = LONG but successful <3
I just got back from an amazing trip with my good friend Jenny~ First to Alabama then to New Orleans. I am so grateful that we had the opportunity to stop at my brother's house on the way to visit for a couple of hours (wish my niece Maddie would have been there). My brother & sister-in-law were as funny as ever. I don't get to see them very often at all so the time was much needed! My niece~ the wonderful Tails~ was being her normal silly, loveable self & Maddie was missing in action. Man, I miss those girls! Now on to New Orleans~~ Bourbon Street was the typical "strip" that you can locate in every town. Bourbon street was a smaller scale Vegas and a bigger 6th street from my childhood. The smell was unique, and the art galleries that smelled like horse stalls was an unexpected twist to my walk in the French Quarter.
